My Hero Academia volgt het verhaal van Izuku Midoriya, ook wel bekend als Deku, een gewone middelbare scholier in een wereld waar mensen met superkrachten (genaamd "Quirks") de normaalste zaak van de wereld zijn. Deku droomt ervan om ooit zelf een Quirk te hebben, zodat hij zichzelf ook een held kan noemen, vooral omdat hij op school altijd gepest wordt.
Het tij keert echter voor Deku wanneer hij als enige probeert zijn pestkop uit zijn jeugd te redden van een schurk.
