Description +
With its spiral shell and tentacles, the nautilus is one of the oldest marine animals still present on Earth. A true living fossil, it has existed for over 400 million years.
Surprisingly, unlike octopuses and squids, the nautilus has an external shell divided into chambers filled with gas and liquid, which allows it to control its buoyancy. It mainly lives in the depths of the Pacific Ocean and sometimes surfaces at night to feed on fish, crustaceans, and carrion. Slow and discreet, it protects itself from predators by completely retracting into its shell. Its beauty and rarity make it a symbol of marine biodiversity to be preserved.
This Papo figurine faithfully reproduces the nautilus: finely sculpted spiral shell, realistic tentacles, and elegant silhouette. An ideal model to enrich a marine animal collection, invent underwater stories, or introduce children to the discovery of ancient species.
