How does Santa know who's been good? Every night, the Scout Elves go to the North Pole to report back to Santa, then return the next morning to hide in a new spot in their family home. Can the Elf stay in the family home all year? The Scout Elves must return to the North Pole at the end of the holiday season to prepare for the following year's Christmas! While they're away, the elves share stories with their fellow elves, receive flight training, and help Santa and Mrs. Claus. Santa sometimes grants the elves permission to return to their families for special occasions throughout the year. According to tradition, a Scout Elf loses its magic if touched by human hands. Moving a box with the elf inside is okay; however, once the elf has been adopted and given a name, it must not be touched.
